Waive or Enroll within the Student Health Insurance Plan – Deadline is September 19, 2022.

Posted in: Announcements, Featured News, Red Hawk Central

Montclair State University is committed to making sure all full-time students have access to adequate medical health insurance coverage. For medical health insurance purposes, full-time* is defined as

  • Undergraduate students enrolled in twelve (12) or more credits.
  • Graduate students enrolled in nine (9) or more credits.

Full-time* students, as defined above, have the chance to waive/opt out of the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) by providing evidence of a comprehensive Reasonably priced Care Act (ACA) compliant medical health insurance plan online to University Health Plans. To make sure compliance, students are mechanically billed for the SHIP and might be mechanically enrolled if a waiver just isn’t submitted online by Monday, September 19, 2022. You Can Waive the Health Insurance!

Montclair State University has partnered with University Health Plans (UHP) to manage our insurance process. UHP might be available to help with all your Student Health Insurance-related needs. From waivers, enrollment and benefit-related questions, they handle all of it. Visit the University Health Plans (UHP) website or you could contact University Health Plans at (833) 251-1705 or info@univhealthplans.com.

Waive It or Pay It!

Failure to submit a waiver by the deadline date of Monday, September 19, 2022, even when you’ve got other comprehensive coverage, will lead to automatic enrollment within the plan.

You might be chargeable for paying the premium even when you’ve got other medical health insurance coverage if you happen to fail to waive it by the deadline!

Please Note: International students have a distinct process for waiving medical health insurance coverage.
