Egypt’s Health ministry reviews report on comprehensive medical health insurance system

CAIRO – 28 May 2022: Assistant Minister of Health and Population Ahmed El Sobky on Friday received a report from the technical and administrative evaluation committee, which is chargeable for selecting qualified doctors to chair clinical departments at hospitals affiliated with the great medical health insurance system.

The report also covered the evaluation of hospital nutrition services, contracts for periodic construction maintenance of the health facilities and their medical and non-medical equipment, security and cleansing services, together with a compulsory training project for all leaders and employees of the authority, its branches and health facilities.

The Ministry of Health and Population on Saturday said a hearing survey has been conducted for 3,000,047 children as a part of a presidential initiative for early detection and treatment of hearing loss and impairment for newborns. The initiative was launched in September 2019.

Some 178,177 children could be re-examined, per week after the primary screening at the identical unit, Health Ministry Spokesman Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said.

Around 18,932 children were referred after the second test to 30 hospitals and referral centers nationwide for higher evaluation and the beginning of medical treatment or the installation of a hearing aid or the transfer of the kid for cochlear implant in accordance to his/her condition, the spokesman added.

The variety of examination centers were increased to cover 3,500 health units across all governorates to conduct audiological examinations for youngsters from the day of birth to the age of 25 days, he added.
